The colour grey represents neutrality and balance. It also connotes the transformation from the darkness of illiteracy and ignorance to the whiteness of knowledge and enlightenment. The founding members of Nava Nalanda who envisaged for their educational institution and an atmosphere where there would be no place for prejudice, in which the teachers and the taught would strike a perfect balance and most importantly, an edifice that would offer every student the opportunity to seek truth and knowledge, thought of the colour grey for their school flag. At the centre of the flag lies the emblem of the school – the Nalanda Mahavira, the greatest seat of learning of ancient India, after which the founders ambitiously named the school
